TIL my neighbor's dog knows the mail truck schedule better than me

I always thought I had a good handle on when mail comes to my street in Lakewood. But last week I noticed my neighbor's golden retriever starts barking at exactly 2:15 pm every weekday, and sure enough the mail truck pulls up 3 minutes later. I've lived here 4 years and never clocked it that precisely. Has anyone else's pet figured out a routine you missed?

Maybe the dog is reacting to a different sound first, like the mail truck's engine noise a few streets over that you can't hear yet.

Three streets over is a pretty big stretch, don't you think? I mean dogs have good hearing but that feels like a lot of distance for a truck they hear every single day. Seems way simpler that the dog just heard something in the yard or maybe even farted and startled itself.
