The Lakewood library worker who helped me find my dad's old yearbook

I was at the Lakewood Public Library last Tuesday just kind of browsing the local history section. One of the workers, a lady named Carol who must have been 70, saw me looking lost and asked what I was searching for. I told her I was trying to find my dad's high school yearbook from 1968, and she walked me straight to a shelf in the back and pulled it out in under 5 minutes. Has anyone else had a librarian or local worker go way above and beyond like that around here?

My buddy Tom had this happen at the Columbus library a few years back. He was trying to track down an old map of his grandfather's farm from the 1940s for a family reunion. One of the archivists, a quiet guy named Mr. Patterson, spent almost an hour with him digging through boxes and even brought out a magnifying glass to help read the old faded labels. Tom said he ended up finding the map folded up inside a different folder entirely, the guy really saved the day.

That "folded up inside a different folder" thing happens way more than people think... I've learned to always check between the pages of any oversized books or pamphlets in the same box when I'm looking for documents. Saves a lot of time if you just gently shake each folder before you put it back, too.
