The Lakewood bus driver who knew every rider by name

Been taking the 55 down Detroit Ave for about 2 years now. There's this one driver, older guy, always greets people as they get on. Last Tuesday he says to a woman I've seen maybe 50 times, 'Morning, Karen, kids get on the bus okay?' I don't even know this woman's name. How does he keep track of all that? I can barely remember my neighbor's dog's name. It got me thinking about how much more connected everything feels here versus when I lived in Parma. Has anyone else had a driver or store clerk that makes the neighborhood feel smaller? Do you think that kind of thing is dying out or just a Westshore thing?
