Rant: The Lake Road detour signs that make no sense

I was driving home from Bay Village Tuesday night and got stuck behind the orange barrels near the Clague Road bridge work. The detour sign pointed me down a side street that dead ends at a cul-de-sac, so I had to turn around in some guy's driveway. Then the next sign just disappeared, no arrow, nothing, so I ended up on the old county road that's been closed since spring. I swear whoever sets those signs never actually drives the route themselves. This has happened three times in the last two weeks, and I know the area pretty well. I finally gave up and used my phone's map, which routed me around the whole mess in about five minutes. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed these detours are worse than the construction itself?

Heard my buddy Tim hit the same detour last week, he followed the arrow straight into a closed bridge and had to back up a quarter mile on a gravel shoulder. He said the "alternate route" sign was literally nailed to a tree that had fallen over, pointing at the sky. We both figure the county just picks random roads out of a hat and calls it a day, honestly.
