My garage door opener gave up mid-drizzle, now I'm the neighborhood fob guy
Last Tuesday at 7:15 AM I'm backing out for work and the whole unit just clicks once and dies. The chain was fine, the sensors were clean, but the motor sounded like a dying cicada. I called three repair places in Westlake and the first available slot was Friday, so I spent 72 hours manually lifting that thing twice a day. Finally a tech came out and said the circuit board had a hairline crack, probably from the humidity off the lake. He quoted me $640 for a new opener, but I found the same model online for $410 and had my brother-in-law help install it in an afternoon. Anyone else around here ever had a unit fail right when the weather turns, or is my garage just cursed?
