Lakewood's winter farmers market had a game changer for my meal prep

I stopped by the one at the Old Firehouse last Saturday and grabbed a half peck of those purple-top turnips. I always ignored root veggies before, but roasting them with a little olive oil and garlic turned into my whole week's lunches. Anyone else been sleeping on the winter market staples?

And the weird thing is, my dog now follows me around the kitchen whenever I chop turnips because she loves the smell. I swear she thinks they're some kind of treat even though she's never gotten one. Anyway, that roasted garlic trick works great on parsnips too if you ever want to switch it up.
