Just found out my property taxes went up 18% this year and I had no idea until I checked the county website last night

I was just browsing around the Cuyahoga County auditor site looking for something else and saw my home's assessed value jumped like crazy. Nobody sent me a letter or anything. I called a neighbor and she said hers went up too but way less. Anyone else get hit with a big jump this year? What are you guys doing about it?

Same thing happened to me with our county auditor actually. I was so mad I almost choked on my coffee when I saw the number. But hey at least our houses are worth more right? That's what the bank keeps telling me when they send me those pre approval offers in the mail. My neighbor said I should file an appeal but honestly the thought of dealing with government paperwork makes me want to take a nap instead. Figured I'd just eat the cost and hope the market crashes before next year so I can at least feel smug about it.
