I moved from Lakewood to Avon for the schools and my Friday nights got 40 minutes longer
I timed my old drive from my place near Detroit Ave to the Whole Foods on Center Ridge three Fridays in a row before we moved, and it averaged 38 minutes each time. After moving to Avon, that same trip takes me about 12 minutes, so I basically got my Friday evenings back. Last week I left work at 5, hit the Avon lakefront for a walk, grabbed dinner on Detroit Rd, and was still home before 7, which never once happened in Lakewood. The tradeoff is real though, my favorite coffee spot and my barber are both now a 25 minute drive, and I catch myself missing the walkability bad some days. I keep telling people the move was worth it, but my wife would say I still complain about the commute once a week like clockwork. Anyone else make the jump west and find the tradeoffs shook out differently than they expected?
