I finally hired a gutter cleaning crew in Rocky River and I am mad I waited 9 years
I always figured gutters were a DIY thing. Grab the ladder, scoop the gunk, save the money. So when a guy named Pete from a local crew quoted me $185 to do all the gutters and downspouts on my house in River, I almost said thanks but no thanks. Then I priced out the ladder I actually needed for my two story roofline and it was $220 by itself, and that was before the part where I don't love heights. Pete and his guy were done in about 90 minutes. They pulled out what looked like a small hay bale of wet leaves and shingle grit, and they flushed every downspout with a hose so I could see it running clear. Two days later we got that big rain and my basement stayed dry for the first time since we moved in. The part that burned me is the $40 I kept paying every few months for those gutter guard screens that never really worked. Anyway, has anyone found a crew out here that does a yearly plan for cheaper than $185, or is that just the going rate now?
Wait, you were paying 40 bucks every few months for gutter guard screens that never really worked? How long did you keep buying those before you finally gave up on them? I ask because I've looked at those foam and mesh inserts at the hardware store like 4 times now and talked myself out of it each time, but I want to know if they're a total scam or just kinda useless. Also curious what made you finally pull the trigger after 9 years, was it the basement flooding or did something else push you over the edge? Because I'm sitting at year 6 of the same deal and Pete sounds like a steal at 185 compared to what I keep telling myself I'm saving.
