Vent: Thought the magnetic sweep cover was a gimmick. Huge mistake.
I ignored everyone for 6 months. Kept using my old drop cloth. First job in Oak Park, Illinois last Tuesday. A hidden nail punctured my cloth. 40 pounds of creosote and ash across their hardwood floor. Took me 3 hours to clean up. The customer was pissed. That magnetic cover would have caught it all for $25. Have you guys had a similar blowout?

Hundred bucks says half that cleanup time was you on your knees with a shop vac nozzle and a toothbrush. What really stings is you probably passed the magnetic cover a dozen times at the supply house and laughed at it. Did you at least get paid for the full job or did they ding you on the invoice for the mess?

I used to think those things were just another gimmick to sell you something you didn't need but after watching a coworker spend three hours cleaning up swarf from a ceiling job I'm seriously rethinking that. Customer didn't even ding me on the invoice but I knew I'd never make that mistake again.
