Used to scrub chimney crowns with just a wire brush for 2 years
Back when I started with my uncle's crew in Portland, I'd spend 20 minutes on every crown scrubbing creosote stains raw, and my fingers would be shot by lunch. Last winter I finally caved and bought a $40 rotary drill attachment for $40, and now I fly through those same crowns in under 5 minutes without any hand cramps. Has anyone else had a tool upgrade that made them feel dumb for not trying it sooner?

Dude the rotary brush attachment is a game changer and yeah I felt so dumb too haha. I used to use a manual scraper for years cleaning out old mortar joints before repointing and my wrist would be screaming by the end of the day. Finally grabbed a cheap oscillating tool with a carbide blade and now I zip through joints in a quarter of the time with zero pain. Can't believe I suffered through all that hand cramping for something that cost like 30 bucks.

Man thats exactly how I felt about my angle grinder! I spent years using a hand file to notch out pipe for custom exhaust hangers until I finally tried a cut-off wheel and finished a whole job in like ten minutes. Felt like a total fool for all that elbow grease I wasted.
