I used to think those "creosote bags" were a gimmick pushed by the supply houses. Every flue I ran into with glazed stage 3, I went straight to my rotary whip and chain. Burned through two heads on a job in Tulsa back in March. Then a retired sweep named Dale showed me his setup: a 6 mil poly bag duct taped over the thimble opening, with a shop vac hose poked through a slit in the bottom. Ran the brush from the top, all the crud dropped into the bag, zero dust in the living room. Did a 30 foot masonry flue two days ago in about 25 minutes, and the homeowner didn't even need to cover her furniture. Anyone else running the bag on every job now, or just glazed stuff?
