Chatting over the fence turned into my best referral yet!
I always thought small talk was just polite, but when my neighbor asked about soot on my truck, it led to a full chimney inspection for them! Now they tell everyone on the block how important regular sweeps are.

Luck is just being ready when a chance shows up. @the_james had the coffee and the nice shirt, that's not nothing. Most plans are just making your own luck.

You think business plans can't involve luck? Tell that to everyone who bought lottery tickets instead of writing a business plan, @gray_anderson. My last big deal started because I was in the right coffee shop at the right time and spilled my drink on the right person's laptop. Pretty sure my 'master plan' was just wearing a nice shirt that day.
