A ladder crew in Pittsburgh showed me a rope trick I cant stop using

I was on a row of townhouses in Pittsburgh last month, three flues on one roof. My normal brush setup kept snagging on a cracked clay liner, so the homeowner's son, who runs a ladder crew for a siding company, came out and showed me how he ties a slip knot with a weighted drop bag to pull the brush through from below. It took me maybe 15 minutes to get the hang of it, and now I clear blockages in half the time on narrow flues. The rope burns on my gloves are real, but it beats fighting a rod from the top. Has anyone else switched to a bottom-up pull method for stubborn liners, or do you stick with rotary heads?
