TIL a $60 microplane was a total waste for garlic

I bought one of those fancy long microplanes last month thinking it would save me time mincing garlic for the line. Used it twice and the garlic just turned into a sticky paste that stuck to the back of the grater. Spent 10 minutes scrubbing it with a brush between tickets. Anybody else find these things useless for garlic or am I doing it wrong?
