Picked up a trick from a line cook in New Orleans last Tuesday

I was visiting a small spot in the French Quarter and watched their guy use a damp towel under his cutting board to stop it from sliding. Has anyone else tried this or got a better trick for keeping things steady?

Honestly man, a damp towel seems like overkill... I just use a wet paper towel and it holds fine.
