Overheard a server tell a customer our 'daily catch' was frozen cod from Sysco

Guy at the table next to me asked the server what the daily catch was and she straight up said 'our fresh Atlantic cod'. But I saw the boxes on delivery day. It was frozen. I know margins are tight, but it bugs me. We are supposed to be a scratch kitchen. Do your places actually spin fresh fish or just lie about it?

Catch myself nodding along with @laura_knight54 because it's the same everywhere now, from grocery stores calling regular beef "grass-fed" to hotels saying "complimentary breakfast" when it's just stale bagels.

Ugh, that "fresh Atlantic cod" line really gets me. I get that margins are tight, but it's such a slap in the face when you know the truth. It's one thing to use frozen fish, plenty of places do that and it's fine, but just being honest about it would go a long way. Lying about it just makes me feel like they don't respect the customers enough to be straight with them. It's not just about the fish, it's about the principle of saying what you're actually doing. I'd rather hear "we've got a nice frozen cod today" than that fake freshness story any day.
