I finally gave up on my garlic press after it clogged on a busy Friday night at the downtown bistro

I was mid-service and had to use a knife anyway to dig out the skins, so I tossed the press and just started mincing by hand, and now I get way better flavor and less cleanup, anyone else ditch a gadget that just slows you down?

Ditched my microplane for zesting citrus. Kept cutting my knuckles on it. Now I just use a vegetable peeler and chop the peel fine. Way less blood in my cocktails.

Oh man, @sean_martin44 that citrus hack is genius! I ditched my garlic press a few years back after a similar mess and now I just smash the clove with the side of my knife, peel flies right off. Feels like we're all just slowly turning into our grandmas with the hand tools, right?
