Had a customer ask me to keep the garlic out of the sauce because it was spicy

I was working the line last Saturday night and a lady ordered our puttanesca, then dead serious asked if I could make it without garlic because she thought it was spicy. I just nodded and went back to my station, but I still think about that one.

Oh man. Some people think garlic is a spicy food now? That's like saying water is too wet. Bet she also thinks black pepper is too hot and onions make her eyes water from the heat. I'm picturing her asking for plain boiled pasta next time. No salt either, too spicy.

Wait, so this person actually said garlic is spicy? Like, whole cloves of roasted garlic that get all sweet and buttery? I had a coworker once who swore black pepper was "too aggressive" and would only eat food with white pepper because it was "gentler." Some people just have super sensitive tastebuds I guess, or maybe they never had real garlicky food.
