TIL the average couple spends like $150 on a date night, and I just sat there doing math on our $9 Tuesday
So I was reading this money article last week and it dropped a number that stuck in my head: the average date night in the US runs around $150 once you add dinner, drinks, and an activity. I read it twice because that is more than my weekly food budget. My girlfriend and I do a Tuesday thing where we hit the free art museum downtown (it stays open late on Tuesdays) and then split a $9 plate of dumplings at the little place two blocks over. That whole night costs us under $15 and honestly it feels just as good as the one time we dropped $90 on a fancy dinner and left still hungry. The wild part is the article framed the $150 as normal and low stress, like everyone just has that sitting around. We are not broke but I still felt weird reading it, like we are doing dates wrong. Does anyone else track what their nights out actually cost, or am I the only one doing math in my head at the table?
