Am I the only one who thinks fancy coffee dates are a bad first move?
Everyone in my group keeps pushing the $14 latte spot downtown for a first date, and I think that's a mistake. Last month I sat in one of those places on a Saturday in Austin and we spent 40 minutes yelling over the espresso machine before giving up and walking out. A $3 drip and a bench at the park down the street got us into a real talk about her sister's move, which never would have happened in that noise. The price tag isn't the issue for me, it's that loud rooms kill the one thing a first date actually needs. Does anyone have a quiet cheap spot they fall back on, or am I overthinking the noise thing?
