Found out at 34 that the Lucky Leprechaun and the Trix rabbit are NOT related and my kid corrected me
So my kid asks me to explain the big cereal mascot family tree and I launch into this whole thing about how the leprechaun and the rabbit are cousins through some shared marshmallow ancestor. He pulls up a wiki page on his tablet and just stares at me. Turns out I had been telling this story for about 3 years, to his friends, at two birthday parties, and once to a guy in the school pickup line. The thing that tipped me off was when he pointed at the screen and asked, "Dad, where does it say that?" It said nothing, because I made the whole thing up in my head at some point and forgot it wasn't real. Now I want to know what other mascot backstories people have totally invented and repeated like facts.
