TIL those "cat yoga" books are actually pretty great, not just a gimmick

I used to see those cat yoga coffee table books at the thrift store for like $3 and think nah, that's just for people who want to look quirky. Then my friend left one on my table last month after a visit, and I flipped through it bored one night. The photos are actually legit - cats stretching in poses that look like real yoga moves, and the captions are hilarious without trying too hard. There's one of a tabby doing a downward dog and it says "I'm not flexible, I'm just collapsing." Got me laughing out loud at 2am. So yeah, I was wrong. Has anyone else found a cat book they assumed was dumb but ended up loving?

Actually that pose is technically called "upward facing dog" for cats, not downward.

Three months ago my neighbor insisted her cat was doing "downward dog" but the vet laughed and said cats only do upward facing dog because their spines bend different. @the_barbara is totally right about the technical name, it's one of those things where people assume animals do the same yoga poses as humans but they really don't. Once you start noticing it you see this pattern everywhere, like how people call any bird sitting still "perching" when technically half of them are just resting.
