That $60 cat book I thought was dumb actually changed my whole opinion
I picked up 'The Cats of Cairo' at a used bookstore for $60 last month just because the cover was cool. Thought it was gonna be one of those fluff pieces with no substance. But it's full of actual history and street photography of stray cats in Egypt. The stories about how locals feed hundreds of colony cats daily made me see feral cats totally different. Anyone else found a cat book that shifted their perspective on something?

Wait, you found a whole book about Cairo's stray cats for sixty bucks? That's steep even for a used book, but I'm shocked they actually paid that much for it though. I guess if it's full of real history and those street photos it makes more sense, but still. I've had a few cat books that surprised me like that, ones I bought just for the pictures that ended up teaching me something. Never saw the Egypt connection before, that's pretty wild how locals feed them by the hundreds.

Man I've noticed that with a lot of things I've bought over the years. There's always some random overpriced item that ends up teaching me more than I expected. Like I bought a beat up old map of my hometown for like 40 bucks at a flea market just cause I liked how it looked, then I spent two hours reading all the street names and realizing how much the place changed. That's just how it goes sometimes, you think you're paying for something silly and you actually get a whole lesson out of it.
