Stopped letting people flip through my cat photo books after a $9 thrift store find got wrecked
I used to leave my cat coffee table books out for guests to browse, and after the third time someone bent a corner on my copy of a 1980s cat portrait collection, I switched to a cheap decoy. I found a beat-up cat book at a thrift store in Portland for $9 and now that one sits on the table for anyone to grab, while the good ones stay on a shelf behind the couch. Sounds snobby, I know, but most people just want to flip fast and ooh at the pictures, and they don't care if it's a rare printing. My decoy still gets compliments, which honestly says something about how much people actually notice. Does anyone else keep a throwaway copy out front, or am I being too weird about it?
