Stopped into a tiny bookshop in Salem and found a cat book from 1986
I was killing time between train rides last fall and wandered into this cramped little shop near the witch museum. They had a whole shelf of old coffee table books way in the back, and I spotted this beat up copy of "The Elegant Cat" from 1986. The photos were so grainy compared to what we get now, but there was something about the lighting and the way they posed those fluffy Persians that felt warmer, you know? It made me realize how much photography style has shifted from soft focus dreamy to super crisp and realistic. The cover had a gold foil spine that was mostly rubbed off but still caught the light a bit. I almost bought it but the price tag said $45 which felt steep for a used book with a split binding. Has anyone else found an older cat book and just stared at the pictures for way too long wondering who owned it before?

Found a 90s cat calendar at a thrift store and did the same thing.
