Rant: Spent 3 hours tracking down a cat book I already owned

I was looking through my shelf for that one funny cat book with the grumpy orange tabby on the cover, the one that has all those pictures of cats sitting in weird spots. I dug through the whole living room pile, checked the bedroom stack, even looked in the garage where I keep the old magazines. After about 2 hours I gave up and ordered another copy online for $15. Next day I walk into my kitchen and there it is, wedged between some cookbooks on the bottom shelf, right where I never look. So now I have two copies and I'm out the money for nothing. Has anyone else double bought a cat book because you forgot you had it buried somewhere?

Accidentally bought my own memoir twice from a used bookstore because I forgot I'd written the thing.

Accidentally bought my own book too once but it was a cookbook I ghost wrote for a local restaurant. Forgot I even helped write the thing until I got home and saw my old notes scribbled in the margins. Felt like I was pranking myself but without the fun part. At least yours is a memoir, mine was just 50 pages of mediocre soup recipes.
