Pro tip: I was picking fancy cat photo books for my shelf based on the cover art, then my sister flipped through one
Honestly I spent two years buying cat coffee table books the wrong way. I would stand in the bookstore and judge them in about 30 seconds, all based on the cover and the size of the book. Big glossy cat face, cool colors, boom, bought it. Then back in March my sister came over and grabbed one off my shelf, a $45 hardcover I got at a shop in Portland, and started flipping through it. She got quiet, then asked why half the photos were blurry or had weird lighting. I looked with her and she was right. It was like 40 pages of moody shots where the cat looked asleep or annoyed and the rest was mostly empty white space. I had never actually opened the book past page 10 in the store. Ngl it was a wake up call. Now I sit down and go through the whole thing before I buy, checking if the shots are sharp, if the cat looks alive in them, if the printing is even good. My shelf has half as many books now but I actually pick them up. Does anyone else just flip to the middle and read a random 10 pages before buying, or am I the only one who had to learn this the dumb way?
