My auntie tore apart my cat book collection and I changed everything
So my aunt came over last week for dinner and saw my coffee table stacked with those big glossy cat books. She picked up one about Persian cats and just went off on me. She said the photos were nice but the text was all fluff and no real info about cat behavior or care. At first I was mad but then I looked at what I had. Seven books and none of them talked about why cats do weird stuff like kneading or knocking things off tables. I returned three of them and traded for ones that actually have chapters on cat psychology and health. One even has a section on how to read tail movements. Now my table has fun pictures plus stuff I can actually use with my cat Milo. Has anyone else gotten harsh feedback on their cat book choices that made you rethink your whole shelf?

@rivershah is right, it is a shame how many of those pretty books are just nice pictures with no real meat to them. You see this same pattern all over the place now, not just books but even in how people shop for tools or kitchen gadgets. Everyone wants the flashy stuff that looks good on a shelf or a counter but nobody bothers to check if it actually does the job well. I got a set of knives once that were gorgeous in the box but went dull after two weeks. Same idea with your cat books. The good stuff takes a little more work to find but man it pays off in the end.

My brother straight up told me my cat books were "glorified magazines" and now I only buy ones by actual vets or behaviorists, way better for my tabby Luna.
