Debate: is a cat coffee table book ruined if your cat actually sits on it and leaves claw marks, or does that make it more authentic?

I was at my friend's place in Portland last Tuesday showing off my new copy of Cats in Space when her orange tabby leaped onto the table and dug right into the cover, leaving three deep scratches through a photo of an astronaut cat, and now I can't decide if it's destroyed or if that makes the book a real artifact of cat ownership - which side do you land on?

My buddy's cat destroyed his copy of Catlendar 2022 right on page 12 - the one with the Maine Coon wearing sunglasses - and he framed the torn page like it was modern art, so honestly I think claw marks are the ultimate sign of a book's real purpose. You bought a coffee table book about cats expecting it to stay pristine, but that's like buying a dog bed and getting mad when a dog sleeps on it, right? The scratches are basically the cat's review of the book, and judging by the enthusiasm it sounds like a five-star critique.

You ever see a cat review something and leave literal marks? My buddy's tabby sat on his copy of Cats of Instagram and dragged its claws right through the maine coon on page 14, he just laughed and wrote "verified by cat" in sharpie on the cover. That book now sits on his coffee table as a trophy, not a decoration.
