Unpopular opinion: my cat hitting 15 years old only made her more grumpy and aloof, not cuddly like everyone said she'd get

I kept hearing from other cat owners that senior cats turn into lap cats, but mine just doubled down on hissing at me for petting her wrong twice last Tuesday, has anyone else dealt with a cat that gets meaner with age?

Honestly used to think people were exaggerating about old cats turning sweet, but my experience has been the total opposite. My 14 year old has gotten so picky about when and where I can pet her, and she'll straight up glare at me if I breathe too loud near her favorite chair. Maybe it's just her personality finally coming out fully now that she's too old to pretend to like me. idk, I'm kind of relieved to see someone else say this because I was starting to think my cat was broken or something.

My friend's cat went from cuddly to a total crotchety old lady around 13 too.
