The kitten that tore my screen door apart taught me something about noise
My 7 month old cat ripped the bottom corner of the sliding screen off last Tuesday, and I was ready to lose it. Then I watched her do it again, not to get out, but because the flapping sound got her all wound up. Turns out she likes the feedback loop, the noise and movement keep her hunting brain cranking. I patched it with zip ties for now, but I'm wondering if anyone else's cat does this with repeat sounds, like scratching the same spot on a cardboard box for 10 minutes straight. Did you just block it off or actually find a toy that mimics that crinkle and flutter?
My old cat used to do this with the plastic liner in a specific trash bag, he'd just drag his claws across it until the whole bag was shredded and then sit there looking smug. Zip ties are honestly a solid move, but maybe try one of those crinkly tunnel toys, my current cat goes full feral on those.
