That stray cat taught me more about patience than my therapist did
I was trying to get a grumpy tabby in my backyard to trust me, and my neighbor said 'just sit still and stop expecting anything,' which hit different when I realized I do that with people too. Has anyone else noticed their cat acting like a mirror for their own bad habits?

My cat just wants food and attention, she's not teaching me some deep life lesson about patience. Pretty sure you're reading way too much into a stray's grumpy mood.

Wait, you've only got ONE cat? My mouth actually dropped open reading that. I've got three strays and a fourth that just showed up last Tuesday, and they're like having a tiny, furry board of directors running my life. One of them will actually sit on my chest at 4:30 AM and stare until I get up for food, no patience lesson there just pure intimidation. Another one, Mittens, has figured out that if she meows at the bathroom door long enough, I'll let her drink from the faucet. That's not patience either, that's just her being a tiny tyrant. I'm starting to think all these "deep lessons" people talk about are just cover stories for having your schedule completely taken over by a creature that weighs less than a bag of flour.
