That $90 'calming collar' did zilch for my cat's night yowling

Bought one of those pheromone collars at PetSmart last month hoping it'd stop my 4 year old tabby from screaming at 3am. It did nothing, she still paced the hallway like a tiny ghost. Vet said it's likely just attention seeking, not anxiety, so the collar was a total waste. Anyone else find a cheaper fix for the midnight yowling besides just locking the bedroom door?
