Stopped free-feeding my cat after she gained 2 pounds in 3 months

I used to just leave the bowl full all day, but now I measure out 1/3 cup morning and night per the vet's warning about obesity risks, has anyone else noticed their cat scarfing food faster with set meals?

2 lbs in 3 months isn't that crazy, cats fluctuate. Seems like the vet maybe overreacted a bit.

Not gonna lie, I wish 2 lbs in 3 months was an overreaction on my scale too. My cat would be thrilled if I could drop that fast!
