PSA: That new laser pointer from the pet store turned my cat into a little detective

So I grabbed one of those red laser pointers at PetSmart two weeks ago to entertain my cat, Moxie. She chased it around the living room for a solid 20 minutes, which was hilarious. But then I accidentally hit a reflection off a metal picture frame, and she spent the next hour pawing at random shiny spots on the wall. I thought it was cute until she started stalking my phone screen when I watched TV at 10 PM. Now she checks every corner for that red dot, even if I haven't used the thing in days. Has anyone else's cat gotten obsessed like this or am I just raising a tiny furry sleuth?

Gotta disagree with you there @haydenburns. My cat actually got worse after I covered the mirror - he started pawing at the towel nonstop, thinking something was hiding behind it. Plus now he just uses the reflection in my phone screen or the window glass instead. Cats find new ways to chase that light, trust me. A towel might work short term but they adapt fast, mine did at least. I ended up just limiting laser play to certain times of day and hiding the pointer completely after.
