PSA: dropped $60 on one of those cat calming pheromone plug ins and my boy hissed at it for a week

So about 8 months back my cat Milo was acting up, yowling at 3am and peeing on the laundry, and I read online that the plug in diffusers fix this. Dropped $60 on the starter kit plus refills and plugged it in by his favorite window. Within an hour he was sniffing it, then he hissed and refused to go near that corner for 6 days. I kept it in for a month hoping it would kick in and nothing changed, he just avoided half the living room. Turns out some cats are sensitive to the smell and it stresses them out instead. If your cat is acting weird, watch where they sleep and eat first, that told me way more than any plug in did. Anyone else have a cat that got worse with those things?
