Pro tip: don't leave your cat alone with a laser pointer

I left my cat Felix with one of those automatic laser toys for 20 minutes while I grabbed groceries. Came back to him panting and darting around like a maniac, he didn't settle down for 3 hours. Learned the hard way that some cats get obsessed and need supervised play or they'll stress themselves out. Anyone else see this with their cat?

Oh man, my cat Maple did the exact same thing with one of those automatic wands. She would NOT stop until I hid the thing and had to basically carry her to her bed to force a cooldown.

My old roommate had a cat that did this with a red dot on the wall from a regular laser pointer. She got so obsessed she started stalking shadows on the ceiling and wouldn't eat for a day. Had to hide all laser things in the closet for a month before she calmed down.
