I just read a study from the University of Lincoln that found cats don't actually see us as parents, just as big, clumsy cats.

Found this in a science journal article and it totally explains why my cat, Mochi, headbutts my shin like he's greeting another cat, not a human caregiver.

Explains so much about my cat's terrible life advice.

Look at it from the cat's point of view. Their advice is perfect for living as a cat. It just doesn't translate well to human problems.

This is basically how it goes with most advice from people who live completely different lives than you. Like asking your rich friend for money tips or your single friend for relationship advice. The cat's advice works great if you're a cat, but humans have jobs and bills and social obligations that cats just don't deal with. The whole "ignore your problems and take a nap" approach falls apart when your landlord is calling about rent.
