Can we talk about how everyone says cats hate change, because my cat handled a move to a new apartment better than I did
I keep reading online that cats fall apart when you move, so I braced for the worst when I moved from my old place in Denver into a new apartment about two months ago. Everyone told me to keep her in one room for a week, plug in a diffuser, and expect her to hide under the bed for days. I did none of that past the first night. I set her down in the living room, put her old blanket and her food bowl in the same corner spot, and she walked the whole place once and flopped on the rug like she owned it. By day two she was sleeping on the windowsill watching the parking lot. Maybe I got lucky with an easy cat, but I think people repeat the scary move stories so much it scares new owners into overthinking it. What actually threw her off was me rearranging the bedroom furniture a month later, she yowled at the bed for an hour. So what was it for your cat, the move itself or some little thing you changed after?
