Was super skeptical about packing cubes for years, finally gave in

I always thought they were just another gimmick to sell you more stuff, but I tried a set on a 2-week trip to Portugal last spring. I fit 5 shirts, 3 pants, and 2 pairs of shoes in a 40L bag without any wrestling. Has anyone else found a specific brand that actually holds up after 20+ flights?

Heard a travel blogger I sort of follow mention that packing cubes are kind of a game changer for organization, but not really for saving space. The one thing they swore by was rolling clothes inside the cubes instead of folding them, which I tried on my trip to Portugal too. Ended up fitting way more than I thought, but my cubes from a no-name brand on Amazon started showing loose threads after like 5 trips. Maybe it's just me but I think any basic set works fine for the first few flights, the real test is if the zippers hold up after a year of tossing them around.

@xenaw25 you're spot on about the zippers being the real test... I went through three cheap Amazon sets before I learned my lesson. The brand that's held up best for me is Peak Design honestly - not cheap, but the zippers are still smooth after probably 30+ flights and they've got a solid warranty. Rolling clothes inside the cubes is key like you said, I also found that using the compression cubes helps a bit more with space if you're really trying to squeeze things in. Just watch out for the ones with mesh tops, they snag on everything after a while.
