Tried rolling my clothes vs folding them for a 3-week Europe trip, rolling won big time

I used to be a folder, you know, neat stacks in my carry-on, but for my trip to Italy last month I switched to rolling everything. Turns out rolling saved me like 40% more space and zero wrinkles on my shirts compared to my old method. Anyone else find rolling just works better for cramming in those extra outfits?

Rolling won big time" is an understatement, it's like the difference between trying to shove a sleeping bag back in its sack and actually rolling it up tight. @blairf48 nailed it about seeing everything too, I hate digging through a pile of shirts and finding the one I want at the bottom. On my last trip I rolled so tight my clothes looked like little burritos and I fit in two extra pairs of shoes somehow. Only downside is my wife makes fun of me for calling it my "tactical packing roll" like I'm some kind of pro.

Tbh rolling is the only way to go for longer trips. I read a travel blog where this guy tested both methods for a month long backpacking trip and rolling came out ahead every time. It’s not just about saving space either, you can see all your clothes at once without digging through a pile. Ngl, folding always led to me having to redo everything after the first day because of wrinkles. Once I switched to rolling I never looked back. Plus it makes packing cubes way more useful if you use those.
