TIL a $35 packing cube set can actually cost you more in the long run
I bought a cheap set for a week in Chicago, and the zipper broke on day two, forcing me to buy a new shirt at the hotel gift shop. Has anyone found a specific brand that holds up under actual travel stress?

Ugh, that's the worst. I learned the hard way too. I've had really good luck with Eagle Creek cubes, the basic ones. The fabric feels thin but the zippers are solid, and I've stuffed them full for years with no rips.

Right?? I feel you on the zippers being SOLID though, it's like they knew the fabric was the weak point and overcompensated. I had one of the small cubes split right down the middle after a trip to visit family, and I wasn't even THAT aggressive with it. I just had it crammed with socks and underwear and it gave out. Now I'm paranoid and use them for lighter stuff like scarves and belts, anything heavy goes in a sturdier brand. But man, for the price you'd think they'd hold up better.

Honestly wyatt513, I get what you mean about the fabric feeling thin. Tbh that's actually why I stopped using them. I had a basic Eagle Creek cube for a while and the fabric started to tear at the seams after one really packed trip. The zipper was fine, but the material gave out. Ngl I switched to something with a tougher outer layer because I overpack every time.
