The flight attendant who called me out on my overstuffed backpack

I was boarding a flight to Chicago last month and this older flight attendant stopped me at the door. She pointed at my backpack and said "that thing is gonna explode if you try to shove it under the seat." I laughed it off but then we hit turbulence and I heard a zipper rip. Now I pack my carry-on like a Tetris game, rolling everything tight and using packing cubes to keep it flat. Anyone else ever get called out by crew for bad packing?

Got caught myself on a Spirit flight last year. The gate agent took one look at my backpack and said "you gonna need a forklift or a second mortgage for that thing?" Sure enough, the overhead bin wouldn't close so I had to take out three pairs of shoes and stuff them in my jacket pockets like a crazy person. Felt like a traveling clown for the whole two hour flight.
