Rolled vs folded shirts, the scale finally tipped for me

I always folded my tees to save space, but rolled them for a 2 week trip to Lisbon and fit 3 extra outfits in my carry-on. Turns out rolling uses less corner space, not less total volume, so it works better for soft stuff. Anyone else have a packing method they stuck with for years that turned out to be wrong?

Rolled shirts actually take up less dead space in a bag, but the real trick is folding them flat once you're at the hotel so they don't wrinkle from being stuffed. I did the same thing for years until a buddy pointed out that rolling saves corner room, not actual space, and I've been folding my soft tees ever since.
