PSA: A flight attendant in Denver told me something about packing cubes
I was waiting for a flight to Seattle last month and heard a flight attendant talking to a coworker. She said, 'I see people with those packing cubes, but they just stuff them full like a grocery bag.' She said the real trick is to fold your clothes around the cube, not into it, so it acts like a built-in drawer. I tried it on my next trip, folding two shirts and a pair of pants around the outside of a medium cube before closing it. It kept everything way flatter and I fit an extra sweater in my bag because of the saved space. It also made unpacking at the hotel a lot faster, since the cube stayed neat. I always thought cubes were just for sorting, not for a better fold. Has anyone else tried a packing method that seems backwards but works better?
