Packing cubes saved my trip to Portland last week
I just got back from a 5 day trip to Portland and I finally get the hype around packing cubes. I used to just shove everything into my carry-on and hope for the best. But last week I tried a set of 3 cheap cubes from Target for $15. I put shirts in one, pants in another, and socks/underwear in the third. It took me maybe 10 minutes to pack and everything fit way better than before. On the trip I could grab one cube without messing up the whole bag. Has anyone else found a specific way to arrange cubes that works best for them?

Did you roll your shirts or fold them before putting them in?

Oh man, my friend Jenna swore by packing cubes until she had a total disaster. She stacked them all flat in her suitcase for a long weekend in Chicago. She had to dig through the whole bag just to find her phone charger and ended up pulling out all three cubes. Then she couldn't get them to fit back in nicely and had to sit on her suitcase to zip it shut. Now she swears by standing them up like books on a shelf, not stacking them flat. Works way better for her, I guess.
