Overheard a guy at the airport gate complaining his rollaboard didn't fit and had to check it

I was waiting for my flight to Denver last week and this dude was furious his bag was two inches too tall for the sizer. He swore he had the right dimensions but it was stuffed so full it bulged out. Anyone else find that packing too tight actually makes your bag fail the sizer test?

Yeah I feel for the guy, overstuffing a bag always backfires.

I hear you on that, but I gotta say overstuffed bags usually don't "backfire" like some dramatic explosion or anything. More like they just make a mess and swear at you for five minutes while you wrestle with the zipper. I've had it happen with a duffle bag on a flight where the zipper popped open at the curb and my socks and phone charger went everywhere. That's less a backfire and more a slow, annoying fail that makes you look like a total amateur. So yeah, I feel for the guy too, but it's usually just a headache, not some big bang.
