Overheard a guy at the airport gate bragging about his 'system' for fitting three weeks of stuff in a carry-on
He said the key was rolling everything into packing cubes, then squeezing the air out with his knees before zipping. I tried it for a trip to Denver and it actually gave me enough room for an extra pair of shoes. What's the weirdest packing trick you've heard that actually worked?

Packing cubes are just extra junk to carry. Rolling clothes the old way works fine without the gimmicks.

Totally agree they're just extra junk. Rolling clothes is not just fine, it's BETTER because you can actually see everything in your bag at once. Cubes hide your stuff and add more weight. It's a classic case of fixing something that was never broken.
