Just hit 30 trips with the same 21 liter pack and I'm shook

I've been using the same little Mystery Ranch backpack for 3 years now, 30 flights total, and it never dawned on me how much I saved on bag fees until I added it up last night. That's like $900 in avoidable charges if I had checked a bag even half the time. Has anyone else run the numbers on what their carry-on habit is actually worth?

Have you ever thought about the time saved too? Missing baggage claim and not worrying about lost luggage has to be worth something on top of the cash. That 21 liter pack sounds like a solid investment.

Honestly, my last trip to Japan I didn't even check a bag. I just had a 25 liter backpack and that was it. Walked right past the baggage carousel, straight to the train. It saved me at least 20 minutes, maybe more, just standing there waiting for a bag that might not show up. Plus no worrying about it getting lost in transit, which is a huge peace of mind. That 21 liter pack sounds perfect for that kind of travel.
